| Background | Born on July 4th, George
Washburn was a born patriot. He trained to be a writer doing some
freelance investigative reporting, as well as being a semi-accomplished
fiction writer. But while investigating some unauthorized testing
involving some radioactive elements being performed in the heart of
Paragon City, he was exposed to what should have been a fatal dose. He
survived. Later he discovered he could heal QUITE rapidly, and was
tiring less and less. He seized the opportunity to become a hero and registered. Initially it was a story idea, but once he did so he saw the good he could do. He committed himself to "the biz". He uses several things he encounters in his hero career for stories, picking key events. His role as a writer allows him to be incommunicado for days at a time. With no family, there is almost no one that suspects his dual role. He tries to abide by the law at all times -- and is the first to object when others would like to bend it in the pursuit of justice. |
| Notes | I started this character on a
whim, after I saw a half dozen Sentinels standing around in Atlas
role-playing. I checked Guildportal, and found their site, and was
impressed with the web design. I asked if they were
recruiting. They were - and pointed me to the list they had
prepared of slots or character roles to give them a rounded roll
call. After toying with several character possibilities I went
with the Martial Arts/Regeneration scrapper design. I used a
costume design that was the same head, but used a thin horizontal stripe
design, a white on blue star for an emblem, with red briefs and blue
leggings. The membership wanted something "less flashy",
so I quickly came up with the current costume. I've been getting
NOTHING but complements on the design. He's only been
in a couple costume contests since the change back at level 12 , and
placed in none though.
I've played him solo a lot, and he's shot to near the top in prestige earnings for the group as a result. But I've also teamed with him on several times. He's got over 200 badges as I write this, which is not bad on a toon that is less than a month old. He's inspired me to make more comic covers as well. I've always liked patriotic characters His uniform has stayed pretty static, although in the last few levels I've changed his side white stripe to red/white/red Fat stripe pants. Although it is different playing with a different colored rear on the character, he does look EVEN more like a flag. I can't play the character at all without at least one blind tell complimenting the uniform. As I told one ASSA member, it is one of those why-didn't-I-think-of-that styled outfits that is basic, simple, and memorable. Given all the patriotic characters in the game, it is amazing no one did this before me. Early August 2007 he achieved level 50, becoming my first to do so. I've also done 50 covers for him by now. |
