PT Cruiser
Home Up

I've been driving my wife's Corolla since she got her Rav4 a couple years ago.  For years she got the new cars, I got the hand-me-downs.  And the choice of make and models, even color were hers.  Finally it came time for me to chose a car.  Anne wanted something sturdy.  Only two cars ever caught my eye.  The new Volkswagon Beetle, and the PT Cruiser.

Anne convinced me that we could get one now, save money on the monthly car payment.  Getting it now was good since we were at the end of the model year.   The Corolla was in DIRE need of new tires and alignment, which would be several hundred bucks in expense.

We got to the dealership, just around the corner from us not 2 miles down the road.  They had SEVERAL PTs on site.  The first thing I saw was one out in front - a white "woody" model.  I liked the woody effect.  Getting in I was impressed, and LOVED the legroom.  My Right knee was hyper-extended several years ago, and occasionally gives me problems.  On longer trips, the legroom is an issue.

We ended up back on the lot.  They had over two dozen PT Cruisers on site.  I had always wanted a blue car, and did like the Patriot Blue shade they had.  We test drove one, and I was impressed.  It was SMOOTH.  It felt very comfortable.

When we got back we compared it with a very similar model.  The first one had different wheel hubs, different brakes, leather seats, and of course no wood.  The second one, still Patriot Blue, had cloth seats, better brakes, less fancy hubs,  & Wood exterior.   I really liked the looks of it all around.   The package was perfect.  Even had a compass, thermometer near the automatic moon roof controls.  I was sold.

We had to go through some hassles on the financing - at first we got 8.95% loan, but they called us up Monday and reversed that back to the other 0% financing!

I've been driving it for days, and am very pleased.  In twenty years, I've never had a new car that was MINE.  And this one is an eye-catcher.  I've gotten out my Handcam and took some pictures.

My new toy. I'm so proud.

Well I've gotta cruise.  See You!
