Description:

Thin but athletic build, long straight red hair. Usually wears soft, form fitting clothes with no loose items, such as body suits.

Background History:

Carey was only 12 when the NeoTek event occurred.  A talented gymnast, she was in the middle of a flip when an energy ball entered her.  Her flip turned into a somersault that kept going over and over while she was suspended in the air.   When she finally came out of it, she was still floating in the air.  It took her several minutes before she learned to control her flight, and returned to the ground amid dozens of bewildered classmates and her teacher.  She found it even more surprising when she saw her reflection and saw how her eyes had changed.  

Her public event precluded any further secrecy as to her abilities.  She was examined by doctors and amid their numerous tests discovered her other abilities, which allowed her to control various aspects of light and sound.  She could see everything around her, even in the dark, become invisible and inaudible, and shoot out flashes of bright light or beams of shattering sound.   She enjoyed her powers, and was soon released by the doctors who couldn't begin to fathom her powers.    She received much public attention as one of the most accessible metahumans.  She also raised concerns as a meta-teen.   She did get into trouble from time to time, but usually she was using her powers in an attempt to help.    But sometimes her control was a bit clumsy during her teen years, and her successes were mixed with mild failures.

She had difficulty deciding on a career - several of her choices had been taken from her.  She graduated high school with honors, and went onto junior college, but could decide on a degree, thanks to her limitations.   She was attracted to law enforcement somewhat, liking to be helpful.  At times she was at odds with her powers because for everything they did for her, they were fouling up everything else.  For a while she lent herself out to help with surveillance tasks.  She learned how to observe and not be observed herself, using her invisibility to its fullest.   Several times she witnessed crimes, and stopped them.  Since they couldn't see her, usually they couldn't hurt her.

When the laws came down blocking her from actually joining a police force, she was one of the first to join a Civil Metahuman force, becoming a charter member of Team Atlanta, and has been a fixture of it for nearly five years.  She is pleased with her life up to a point, but would rather be rid of her powers if given a choice.  

Her personal life has been limited, as her romantic relationships have always met with unfortunate media attention, adding to her frustration.  That's not to say that she has given up.  She's just still looking.
